We were all drinking Karmeliet, our new favorite Belgian tripel. We found a bar where they serve it straight of the tap, not bottled, which is SO much better. Actually, it was SO good, things went a bit crazy as the game went into the night.

After suffering a pretty bad beat (blackdeuces caught a gutshot on the river) Mister M. decided to take a toilet break and had the brilliant idea to play the rest of the night in his “lucky” underwear. Picture:

The underwear wasn’t lucky at all. So, after a couple of hours of staring at M.’s manboobs, we decided to call it quits. It’s then when M. got the genius idea of climbing a local watertower. Here’s a picture of him on top of the tower, wearing a shirt he robbed of an autistic clown on the way there.

Another Karmeliet for Mister M. please.

Yesterday, while we were playing with our beer-drenched cards, someone started a rant about how some peoples take themselves way to serious and how that seems to apply more to pokerplayers then average folks. We thought the prime example of that is Phil Hellmuth. Everyone has seen some of his behaviour on television and I don’t need to explain it any further. However, take a look at the following clip! Phil is asked to give his opinion about an other pokerplayer, and as if that isn’t hard enough for Phil, that pokerplayer is his nemesis Tom Dwan.

This is pure gold. Hellmuth realizes he’s expected to make a compliment, so he attempts to do so… but he gradually turns it into criticism while at the same time complimenting himself. Well played sir! Plus Tom’s face is priceless.

The bar loves you Phil.

I’ll buy him a nice Duvel next time I see him. Duvel is a strong Flemish ale (8,5%) with a strong taste, best drank out of a tulip glass. It’s quite an acquired taste, because the brewing is heavily carbonated and quite bitter. You either love or hate Duvel, there’s no in-between. Only problem is, some of us like it a bit too much. And yes, I’m looking your way blackdeuces, you drunken Omaha genius!

The six of us play poker for fun, and fun only. None of that bullcrap about analysing our plays or trying to make the most +EV decisions. That’s for nerds. We just like to get drunk and try to own each other with crazy bluffs and river suck outs. Poker as it should be.

Last night we got together again, and I saw the best play ever. I couldn’t stop laughing after this hand came to a showdown:

We were 0,10/0,10c blinds. The youngest of the crew, Ginger Boy, raised. He’s know for his VERY loose plays. So, 4 of us called, with all kinds of crap, obviously. The flop came down AT2. Ginger boy bet out, 3$, while the pot was only 1,5$. Everybody folded, except for Fatty. Fatty always tries to make hero-calls, just like in this hand. Turn is 6. Ginger bets out 5, Fatty insta-calls. River is another T. Ginger goes all-in for 20$. Fatty goes in the tank for 5 minutes, calls and flips open his KJ high. I lolled. Ginger stands up, acts like he’s upset. Says: “Sure, you can see my hand.” I flip his hand open: AA. The table bursts out in laughter. We love slowrolls!

While this pure piece of poetry was going down I was enjoying a great beer called La Chouffe. A Belgian blond beer with a nice taste, a nice strong but not too strong alcohol percentage (8%), and a cool ticket of a dwarf with a red nose on the bottle.
